Why phone companies are universally laughed at.
Sep. 12th, 2009 | 02:00 pm
I just opened up two ( because one just isn't enough ) mailings from our phone company.
They announced, with great fanfare, that I could "upgrade" to digital phone service for only $25.00 more a month!
Wow! That's incredible! For 50% more than what I'm paying now, I can get service that doesn't work during power and network outages, and has poorer fidelity than my Plain Old Telephone Service!
Gee, give me a second, I'm going to have to think about this...

A conversation with the Gas/Electric company representative
Apr. 10th, 2009 | 11:32 am
Rich: I'd like to convert from the budget-billing plan back to actual billing.
Rep: May I ask why? Budget billing is so convenient and predictable!
Rich: Because the budget billing isn't even remotely close to reflecting our usage over the year.
Rep: Oh, I'm sure that can't be correct. Let me look.
( long pause )
Rich: Looking at our past usage, the credit from the budget billing will completely cover our gas&electric for about the next five or six months.
Rep: I'm sure that the amounts will be adjusted in August, when your usages will be recalculated...
I should probably be worried when the people who supply explosive gases and electricity to our house apparently haven't figured out how to compute an average...

Knock, Knock, Knocking

I just heard someone banging at the front door of the house. Thinking it was the UPS guy, I went upstairs, only to find this.
Too bad he wandered away before I could get the camera.
